About Us

We stand firmly behind three ideas that we believe are part of a health care revolution. The first is that we are committed to the most effective and comfortable acupuncture options available. We made the choice to switch to the use of medical lasers instead of needles for this reason. Secondly, we take as much, if not more, time to explore how our clients subjectively experience their symptoms as we do in looking for medical signs that we can measure. Your subtle impressions about your body and symptoms are the foundation of our work with you, and we promise that you will never, ever hear us say that something you are experiencing is not real. We believe that your feelings are keys to resolving your symptoms and we will work hard to support your connection to them. And third, we will ask you to get in the driver's seat. We believe that the more you are in control of your own health care, the better the results will be.

ZebraPoints is the first in a new category of acupuncture practice that uses classical acupuncture in a framework provided by Process Oriented Psychology. In this awareness-based model, the practitioner is first and foremost an awareness facilitator, following the client's process and facilitating the resolution of their unique experiences. When symptoms are chronic and recurring and have resisted other therapies or have responded but continue to return in unpredictable patterns, we assume that there is something in the background that has not been addressed.

Wikidepidia reports that, "Zebra is a medical slang term for an obscure and unlikely diagnosis from ordinary symptoms. It derives from the aphorism 'When you hear hoofbeats, think horses, not zebras',[1] which was probably coined by Dr. Theodore Woodward, a former professor at the University of Maryland, Baltimore, School of Medicine.[citation needed] A similar term for an obscure and rare diagnosis in medicine is fascinoma."

By looking beyond standard diagnoses, we can track the experience of clients to reach the deeper process occurring in the background. While we work with any diagnoses clients bring with them and develop working diagnoses of our own, we resist the urge to reach quick conclusions. Rather we work to expand our awareness of what is happening to the point where a resolution occurs spontaneously. This is really the big idea that sets ZebraPoints services apart from other.

We invite you to join us in the exciting exploration of your symptoms and their resolution. Welcome to a new generation of medicine and a quantum leap in acupuncture care!
